House finches are non-migratory year-round residents of their territory, while others are mainly migratory.

 

 

Finches are generally seed-eaters, eating a variety of plant seeds, especially grasses. Depending on the season and availability of seeds, insects and certain fruits, berries and other plants will make up the bulk of a finch's diet at certain times of the year. Pellets are the ideal diet for most birds.
