Oyster shells are a mixture of crushed shells to provide a high source of natural calcium for hens. Oyster shells can be fed to laying hens indefinitely, but they are a supplement, not a feed.
By feeding lots of oyster shells, you ensure that the eggshells are hard. They become much more resistant. Oyster shells can also aid digestion.
