Chasteberry Horse Powder Supplement by Madbarn Read more.
Chasteberry powder supports normal hormone production and disposition in horses. It may work by supporting normal function of the pituitary gland. It may support a healthy metabolism, reproductive health, coat quality, and sex hormone regulation.
It is sometimes used to provide nutritional support to horses with Equine Cushing’s Disease (PPID) and Insulin Resistance. However, it should not be used as a replacement for pergolide in horses with Cushing’s disease (PPID). It is also given to easy keepers and horses with cresty necks and atypical fat deposits.
It appears to work by modulating the secretion of prolactin from the pituitary gland which affects the production of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the ovaries.
FEEDING
The correct dosage of chasteberry depends on the condition of the horse, bodyweight and the reasons for feeding this ingredient. Start with 5 grams per day and increase the dosage until the desired result is achieved. It is not recommended to exceed 20 grams per day, unless under the direction of a qualified equine nutritionist or veterinarian.
