EGGBUTT W/HOOKS SNAFFLE - LEVEL 2
The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it rotates on the tongue and applies pressure to the tongue, however, it has a small port (¼") which introduces some tongue relief for the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move its tongue as it moves forward and is relaxed, acting as a release or reward. The mouthpiece is curved and wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.
- Independent lateral movement
- Stainless steel mouthpiece
- Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
- Copper inlay
- NO legal training
The addition of cheek hooks makes this a more versatile version of the hookless eggbutt. Attaching the headstall to the top hook keeps the bit in the right position instead of letting it slide around the cheeks of the bridle. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece (if available). Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to switch from direct to indirect rein action without changing bits. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) integrates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for worn mouthpieces.
The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (secured with two curb hooks). Upper bridle slot and lower rein slot fit standard ⅝" bridle leather.
Size: 3 ½" rounded ring.
Action: Direct rein action when rein hook is not in use. Indirect rein action when rein is attached to rein hook.
Discipline: Classic or Western
Degree of leverage: Little or no leverage when hooks are used.
