The MB 04 is similar to the MB 02 in that it rotates on the tongue and applies pressure to the tongue, however, it has a small port (¼") which introduces some tongue relief for the horse. The port allows the horse to swallow and move its tongue as it moves forward and is relaxed, acting as a release or reward.The mouthpiece is curved and wraps around the bars and lips instead of pinching.The soft iron mouthpiece oxidizes and encourages salivation.

The 17.8 cm flat stainless steel shaft is slightly curved towards the horse, with flat top purchase and rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The flat stem has the patented independent swivel cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and stem all move independently of each other. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect rein action (curb) designed for use with a curb strap that attaches to the purchase. The flat stem uses the combination of fixed cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and nape of the neck.
