ENGLISH DEE W/HOOKS BARREL - LEVEL 2-3
The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide, low port that allows the tongue to pass comfortably underneath. The port measures 2.5 cm high and is angled forward at a 45° angle, leaving just enough room for the horse's tongue to rise slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure mainly to the bars and lip, but also applies pressure to the tongue due to the forward inclination.
- Independent lateral movement
- Stainless steel mouthpiece
- Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips or bars
- Copper inlay
The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the thimble without hooks. Attaching the headpiece to the top hook keeps the bit in the right position instead of letting it slide around the cheeks of the bridle. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the independent lateral movement ™ of the mouthpiece. Using hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to switch from direct to indirect rein action without changing bits. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) integrates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for worn mouthpieces.
