The MB 33 is Myler's softest mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece doesn't rotate on the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little or no pressure on the tongue, working mainly on the lips and bars. The port of this mouthpiece measures only 1 ½"high, so it will apply little or no pressure to the roof of the mouth. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a reliable, consistent disposition, and is trained to work the leg and seat as well as the hands The soft iron mouthpiece oxidizes and promotes salivation.

 

 

The 12.7 cm HBT shank is stainless steel and slightly curved, with a flat-top purchase and rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment. The HBT stem has the patented independent swivel cheek, where the purchase, mouthpiece and stem all move independently of each other. The purchase is angled slightly away from the cheek to avoid rubbing. It has an indirect rein action (curb) designed for use with a curb strap that attaches to the purchase. The HBT stem uses the combination of cheek and fixed rein to apply pressure to the mouth, chin and nape of the neck.
