ENGLISH DEE W/HOOKS - LEVEL 3
The MB 33 is Myler's softest mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece doesn't rotate on the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little or no pressure on the tongue, working mainly on the lips and bars. The port of this mouthpiece measures only 1 ½"high, so it will apply little or no pressure to the roof of the mouth. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a reliable, consistent disposition, and is trained to work the leg and seat as well as the hands.

The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the thimble without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook keeps the bit in the right position instead of letting it slide around the cheeks of the bridle. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the independent lateral movement ™ of the mouthpiece. Using hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to switch from direct to indirect rein action without changing bits. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit) integrates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for worn mouthpieces.
