The MB 33 is Myler's softest mouthpiece in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows the tongue to pass almost completely under the bit. Because this mouthpiece doesn't rotate on the tongue and the port is wide, it applies little or no pressure on the tongue, working mainly on the lips and bars. The port of this mouthpiece measures only 1 ½"high, so it will apply little or no pressure to the roof of the mouth. Because the MB 33 offers such a high degree of tongue relief, the horse that goes well in this mouthpiece has a reliable, consistent disposition, and is trained to work the leg and seat as well as the hands The soft iron mouthpiece oxidizes and promotes salivation.

 

 

The western die with hooks is a circular stainless steel ring with fixed mouthpiece attachment, with upper and lower rings ("hooks") for attachment of headpiece and reins. The small loop behind the upper slot accommodates a curb strap (fixed with two curb hooks). The upper bridle ring will fit the standard ⅝"leather found on most headpieces. The lower rein ring has recently been updated to fit slobber straps up to about 1 ¾". The button on top of the rein ring is for decoration - it has no function.
