Shires Hunter Dee w/Brass Lozenge Bit has a curved mouthpiece. The brass lozenge encourages the horse to salivate and play with the bit.

 

The three-part mouthpiece prevents the "nutcracker" action of single-jointed mouthpieces and instead applies moderate tongue pressure more evenly to tongue, bars and lips when the reins are engaged. With the addition of soft iron, this bit promotes salivation and provides a pleasant taste. 

 

Please note: the rusting process (oxidation) will change the blue surface of the bit to a brownish orange/grey color. This is natural and can be removed simply by wiping with a damp cloth. If the drill is used infrequently, oxidation between uses can be minimized by applying a baking soda paste to the mouth and wiping it clean after each use.
