SMOOTH SNAFFLE
The Smooth Snaffle in the Lifter Series is an excellent tool for riders who want a refined, responsive bit that cultivates softness without harshness. Because the mouthpiece is slender and smooth, it’s less likely to pinch or cause discomfort at the corners of the horse’s lips. This makes it a good choice for strong, athletic horses that need more precise cueing rather than heavy leverage.
The medium shank length gives a moderate increase in leverage compared to a typical snaffle, which means the rider can affect the horse’s front end and shoulder positioning more efficiently—especially useful in disciplines like barrel racing, reining, or any scenario where the turn and transition out of the turn are critical.

FITTING & RIDER TIPS
As with all bits providing some leverage effect (due to the shank), it is important the rider maintains soft, consistent hands to avoid overly strong cues. Because the mouthpiece is smooth and thinner, it’s especially important the horse is ready for the refinement—horses with very strong resistance or heavy mouths may require more time adapting.
Check the bit regularly: although the controlled rusting is part of design, ensure no sharp or rough edges develop over time.
Monitor the horse’s response: if the horse becomes resistant, gapes the mouth, over‑salivates excessively, or shows signs of discomfort, reconsider the bit size, fit or transition to a different mouthpiece.
