Adding fat to a feeding program is an excellent way to improve the physical condition of demanding, high-performance, special-needs and senior horses. Adding fat will reduce the amount of grain needed, improve the digestibility of fat-soluble vitamins and slow the flow of food from the stomach to the small intestine, where digestive enzymes work to further break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats. By improving nutrient absorption in the small intestine (foregut), fewer nutrients will reach the hindgut (large intestine and cecum), resulting in less fermentation, gas, bloating and possible digestive upset.
The blend of wheat germ oil and soybean oil is an excellent source of essential fatty acids, as well as vitamins A, D and E.
