Gag Bit
An elevator bridle is used with elevator cheek pieces, which pass through the rings of the bit and have a ring at the bottom. Elevator bridles can be used with one or two reins. When the reins are taken up, the pressure on the poll is increased, causing the bit to tilt in the mouth and be pulled upwards. This also increases the pressure on the horse's tongue and bars. As the name suggests, an elevator bridle is designed to help elevate the horse’s head. The elevator bridle provides a high level of control and is suitable only for experienced riders!
The olive headpiece prevents the corners of the mouth from being pinched in the rings. The horse cannot lift the bit with its tongue, so the mouthpiece lies more quietly in the mouth and is slightly more stabilized laterally. Since the ring does not rotate, it results in a minimally more direct effect with a light influence on the poll. However, the difference compared to a Waterford bridle is not noticeable for the horse or most riders.
The single-jointed mouthpiece lies more quietly in the mouth than a double-jointed mouthpiece and distributes pressure over the horse's bars; the middle joint reduces pressure on the tongue. The olive headpiece provides slight lateral stabilization and guidance, creating calmness and stability in the horse's mouth.
